Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. If you would like to know anything not covered below, please email the Club
- When and where does the club meet?
Every Friday from the first Friday in September to May, at 7.45 p.m. for 8 p.m. in the Parish Rooms, Stock Lane, Ingatestone, Essex
- What do you do at the club?
We have a varied program of lectures, competitions, and member's evenings. For more details please take a look at our Programme.
- How much does it cost to join?
Annual membership is £30 per person, for 35 evenings, which works out at a mere 86p per night! Where else would you get an evening's entertainment so cheaply?
- When was the club first formed?
The club was founded in 1953. For more information, see the History page.
- What sort of photos do your members take?
A wide variety, in colour print, slide and monochrome print. Subject matter includes architecture, flowers, people, still life and landscape. For a look at the work of some of our members, go to the Galleries page.
- Do I need an expensive camera to join?
Not at all! Our members have compact cameras as well as film and digital SLR's and even Medium Format cameras. Whatever you are comfortable with is the best camera for you!
- Can I get tuition in photography from the club?
Although we don't offer formal tuition, plenty of our visiting guests lecture on various aspects of photography. We try to achieve a good balance between instruction and entertainment, so that everyone is kept relatively happy. Our more experienced members are always willing to share their knowledge with those who are new to photography, and when there is a demand, some members will run informal "Master Classes" on a particular subject which has been requested, which are extra to the main club events.
- Can I enter digital images in your competitions?
Subject to certain restrictions (you must have carried out any digital manipulation yourself and all image elements must be your own work) digitally-manipulated photographs are accepted in our Club competitions. In the 2008/09 season, they have their own separate class for digitally projected images - and prints from digital files are allowed in both mono and colour competitions. Many members are increasingly interested in this exciting area of photography and we expect to see new digital developments in the club.
- What about other photography-related pages on the Internet?
Take a look at our links page for other websites, including some of our members' personal sites.
- What about Copyright?
Ingatestone Camera Club respects the intellectual property of others and we ask our members to do the same. Ingatestone Camera Club members remain the original copyright holder in all material (software and content) provided on the Club website. Use of the material inconsistent with the terms and conditions set forth in the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 [or later amendments] is prohibited and considered an infringement of the copyrights of the respective holders unless specially stated otherwise.
